Our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access Committee is leading the process of self-reflection, communication, and action required to make our department a more welcoming, supportive place for all. We began approaching this work in a more coordinated way in fall 2020. Here is a sampling of the ways we are currently engaging:

  • Educating ourselves about historical and current inequities along multiple identity axes
  • Systematically reviewing our department policies and amending biased structures and processes
  • Incorporating IDEA contributions into annual evaluations for all faculty and staff
