Our content guidelines outline best practices for creating and modifying content on the web.

We want all of our website visitors to be able to access the information and services they need. To help them find what they need, we create clear, consistent, inclusive, and accessible content that aligns with University of Illinois branding and ACES voice guidelines.

  1. Build for accessibility
We’re committed to making digital experiences for people of all abilities. We want everyone to be able to access our content, including those who use assistive technology.

  2. Be consistent
To present ourselves as one college with one voice, we adhere consistently to our web writing and voice style guidelines.

  3. Be concise, simple, and clear
Website visitors come to our site to find critical and day-to-day information and services. Our purpose is to:

    1. Help them find what they need with ease

    2. Remove information that distracts them from completing key tasks

    3. Simplify our language

  4. Be inclusive
We are a diverse college, and with that comes responsibility. We must include everyone, no exceptions, in our content.
