Using the ACES Twenty Eleven WordPress theme?

It's time to upgrade to the new Illinois theme for WordPress. As part of the campus branding, security, and accessibility push, the new Illinois theme meets all the standards.

Creating a new PIE site:

  1. Go to publish.illinois.edu - request a new site with site address, title, and description. Select front page as a static page.
  2. Go to the dashboard for your new site. 
  3. Go to Settings > Writing : Select the default editor as block editor. Save changes.
  4. Go to Settings > Permalinks : Select Post Name for common settings. Save changes.
  5. Go to Appearance > Customize : (must publish before leaving this section)
    1. Change Site Identity Tagline and Title if needed.
    2. Main Menu : create a menu, name it main menu. Add items. Select Site Navigation.
    3. Widgets > Sidebar - Remove Recent Comments, Archives, Categories, Meta
  6. Plugins : Suggested ones to activate:
    1. Content Views
    2. Google Analytics for Publish.illinois.edu
    3. Illinois Webtools Calendar Widget (if you use Webtools Calendars)
    4. Smash Balloon Custom Facebook Feed (if you want to use a twitter feed in the sidebar)
      Then choose settings, More social feeds tab, then you can activate instagram, twitter, or youtube if you use those.
  7. Go to Theme Settings and add your footer information.
